Free Initial Face to Face Consultation
An initial consultation allows us to meet each other and enables me to learn as much as I can about you. This will take place at a time and place that is convenient to you.
The consultation begins with completion of a health questionnaire and gives us an opportunity to discuss why you would like personal training. Your resting heart rate and blood pressure readings will be measured along with your height and weight. Depending on your reason for wanting to start training (e.g. weight loss), further measurements may also be taken including your body mass index, waist and hip measurements.
Following this, we will discuss and agree short and long term goals, which will be recorded, allowing your progress to be monitored.
After the consultation stage, a time can be arranged for our first training session.
Personal Training
I have a very personalised approach to training and understand that everybody’s goals will be different. Your training programme will be tailored to your needs and will fit in with your lifestyle. All programmes are designed to be progressive and challenging, to ensure success is achieved for the individual. Whatever you want to accomplish, whether it be weight loss, sports performance, strength training or if you are recovering from an injury, I will provide encouragement and motivation to help you. Most importantly, I hope to instil the confidence and give you knowledge to ensure that you continue your training outside of your time with me.
Remember, you are not on your own; I will always support you by email or telephone if you have any problems or queries.
Individual Needs/ Health Concerns
My qualifications enable me to train people with a variety of health conditions.
Many people think that they cannot carry out a programme of exercise due to a health condition, or believe that exercise may make their health condition worse. This is rarely the case. There are very few people with whom some sort of exercise is completely contraindicated. In fact, many medical conditions can be significantly improved through gentle exercise. Inactivity increases the risk of many adverse health conditions and therefore some activity (even if it is limited) is better than none at all.
There is no better and safer way of doing this than a one-to-one personal training session. This approach to training will take into account any condition you may have and ensure that you are closely monitored so you feel safe when exercising. Medical conditions that may concern you about taking the first steps to carrying out any exercise include: coronary heart disease, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, obesity, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, osteoporosis, joint replacements, stroke, diabetes and asthma.
